5/16 - Sushi
Today's events should be described with some sort of reverent melancholy. Our entire excursion day was based on the struggle of Cypriots for independence from oppressive surrounding we visited a military graveyard commemorating the lives lost during the Turkish invasion of northern Cyprus.
Later on that day, we visited a currently active prison that had previously been one owned by the British, who had ruled over the island up until 1960, at which point the guarantee treaty was signed, liberating Cyprus under the terms that Greece, Turkey, and the UK could invade Cyprus if their interests in the country went under threat. In a way, it's newborn freedom had already been bound in foreign chains.
For dinner, we went to a sushi buffet, as commanded by Torrey, since he was feeling a particular kind of craving for endless California rolls - an interestingly plebian and inauthentic craving in my opinion. However, since the squad had been "rolling deep" and no one raised any objection, I reluctantly agreed. Surprisingly, the dinner didn't disappoint me nearly as much as I thought it would. The endless sushi was actually quite good, and I ended up eating 2 full plates, for a price of 15€.

Nutritional info notes - Sushi is generally pretty healthy, as long as one stays away from the fried things, which I generally tried to do. Taking a look at calories, one could see that the fat content of the eel and avocado was a bit high - but taking into account that avocado is generally pretty high in healthy Omega-3s, it dulls out the impact of having ingested so many fats for dinner.
